JL McCoy has absolutely gained the ranks as one of my favorite authors!If you've enjoyed books by Charlaine Harris (the early Sookie books), Jeanine Frost, Laurel K Hamilton (the early books of the Anita Blake series), Kim Harrison, Patricia Briggs, Karen Chance, Kelly Armstrong, and the Secret McQueen series then this author is for you.
McCoy had me hooked from the very first book in this series. She has a natural talent with words and world building. Unlike some of the authors mentioned above, this series is about a normal girl who gets thrust into the fascinating and terrifying world of vampires. If you are reading this review and have not read the first book, stop now and go purchase it!
This continuation of Skye' s story literally had me melting into tears and downloading the songs mentioned or sifting through CDs to listen to while reading. I've always loved that this author includes a sound track. . .makes the moments even more powerful and memorable. Absolutely brilliant!
I've read the other reviews and won't repeat the synopsis for you, what I will say is I'm a very very satisfied reader. This author has never let me down, as she provides fleshed out characters who have clear motivations and goals. Skye is one of those memorable characters who literally could be any one of us who have ever lived in the scene life. ALWAYS genuine and caring, she has to be one of my top five heroines, and I have been reading this genre for years.
Through personal trials, finding her place in this new existence, dealing with heartbreak, and new found love, Skye is a character my heart goes out to. That's a powerful gift Ms McCoy!
I had wondered which direction the series would take, and was thrilled with the discovers of Skyes background. Tons of questions are answered in this edition and yet many more are to come.
We have the return of all our favorite characters, and our beloved heroine finds herself being accepted into the Day Walker society only to be bombarded with revelations and invitation to the Dark Ones realm. Events unfold as the reader watches as her make difficult decisions concerning her new found father and questioning where she belongs.
Through all of this, our Skye finds strength in love and family, while continuing her path as a warrior. Naturally, she unites all of those around her in her quest to save a friend and squash a Dark One rebellion.

Finally, I'm so relieved that things work out with Jameson, I was literally heartbroken for a while there. Dang my soft heart ! And on another note, so loving me some Archer and his protrctiveness. Can't help but to giggle at how he responds to Deans flirty ways! Skye is just so darn lovable!
Last but not least, I laughed out loud when Ms McCoy stated that the Dark Ones would go back to their clubs in San Antonio.
As a San Antonian, I can vouch that our club scene is nothing compared to Austin! Blame it on those dark ones. . .
So looking forward to the next book!!! Woohoo for another fantastic installment!

Revelation of Blood Skye Morrison Vampire Series #5 eBook JL McCoy V Cantrell Reviews
This was another solid installment in the Skye Morrison series. The story takes a while to get going as the first part of the book deals with Skye's adjustment to being a vampire. It also deals with the Skye, Jameson, Archer problem. Still the ending is pretty good as Skye takes a step toward becoming the badass she should be.
One more book in this amazing series that I just can NOT get enough of! I literally was already asking when the next book would be released the DAY this one was released! I feel like I know every single one of the characters, on a personal level. I'm sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next on every single page. I'm usually not a big "vampire romance" reader, but this series has changed that for me. Everything is handed out in perfect doses, from the sizzle in the love scenes, to the suspense in the action scenes - everything is right on! Thank you JL McCoy for yet another awesome book!!
I'm checking all the time for book 6!!!!!! I'm totally in love with the wonderful world that J.L. McCoy has created with Skye Morrison and friends/family!! There is not one moment in any of this series that I'm not hanging on every word!! I have found a new heroine in Skye Morrison and recommend this serious to anyone who is looking for a fantastic read about vampires and so so so much more!!!!
I really have enjoyed this series, but I agree with some others that the language could "grow up". If you want to make a fantasy world come to life, the language should be more believable than this, people don't really talk to each other like this unless there are all kinds of insecurities going on, and I can't picture either Skye or Archer as insecure. Jameson should have lost his angst over the break-up at least enough to be adult about things, in this book he seemed to turn into a teenager not a Vampire who has been around a heck of a lot longer than 16 years.
I read many different authors who write about Vampires and enjoy the series' enough to continue reading them as long as the authors continue to write them but I would find it difficult to recommend this series to any other reader, instead of progressing the characters seem to regress, and that is just not a good thing ever.
This author is fabulous l love these books she has captured Skye so well, l can't wait until my friends leave of a night so l can curl up in bed and start reading l have finished the last one which was Nikki's story so l am waiting for another book l get up in the morning l don't even feed the cat l just turn the computer on and see if there is another book out yet, l am Mc Coy's number 1 fan l have read a lot of Vampire Romance books and this one tops the lot.
I read a lot! And I mean a lot! Many are series and I am always ready for the next installment. So let me just say that the latest installment is a barn burner. I just finished Revelation of Blood and let me just say I can't wait for Retaliation of Blood to be available. This series is great from start to finish each and every time. This latest one made me want to skip ahead to make sure Archer and his family were going to come out on top. But I refrained and finished the book. If you haven't read the series, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed. Keep the series coming!
Not a bad book. The story is entertaining, with a few good twists. My biggest complaint about this book is the constant praising of our heroine. We get that Skye is beautiful, strong, powerful, fabulous, etc. etc. etc. Every male in the book wants this just too wonderful and now famous woman. She calls ALL of them "honey"...endlessly. I just got weary of the unending praise for her---and calling her "baby" all of the time rather shot that image down a bit. I am starting to be reminded of Anita Blake--and waiting for Skye to start a harem of her own with Archer, Jameson, Dean, Hunter, Hagan....etc. etc. etc. A woman who is as totally great as her reputation might deserve more than one eternal mate? And would somebody find Stivi Nyx a permanent home? The poor dog deserves better.
